Single Family Passive House, Mont-Tremblant, Québec

Passive House Design

Project Overview

This project was specifically designed to meet the highest comfort levels possible. The contemporary classic design integrates beautifully into the surrounding rock mountainside, and the interior layout complements the active lifestyle of the owners, including space for a music studio and video editing workshop.

The highly insulated envelope uses conventional construction materials, combined with careful building methods and detailing, and has achieved an incredibly low airtightness level of 0.16 ACH @50pa.  Landmark Passivhaus added an earth tube to preheat incoming fresh air in the winter, and combined it with the Minotair 12000 to provide unsurpassed indoor air quality year-round. Comfort, comfort, comfort, and an annual heating demand of just 1793 kWh!  The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and had a building cost of $167.00 per sqft.
