This online course has only one goal – to prepare you for the challenging international Certified Passive House Designer Exam, run up to 4 times annually by the Passivhaus Institut in Germany, and offered online by PHI and other exam providers worldwide.

What you will learn during this course
This is a resource aimed getting you through the highly challenging international CPDH exam via examples of typical questions found in the exam. Working through these solved problems will give you confidence in approaching the exam and getting a pass. You will learn:
- How PHI sets its exams – the format, duration and tools needed, and what you need to do to pass
- What to expect from every type of question – from engineering-type calculations to PHI’s approach to Multiple Choice questions
- How to approach the exam to maximize your chances of passing
- How to get up to speed on the many types of calculation in this exam
- How to approach the (famous) Passive House Design Question, including real examples of successful candidates’ submissions. Note that since the Exam went online candidates are no longer required to submit a drawing of their design, just to answer a series of multiple choice questions
- Links to essential exam prep tools

What can I expect from this course, and what’s included?

This course consists of non-narrated videos of typical exam-type questions covering all aspects of Passive House design.

The user is expected to read the question, then pause the video, work out a solution, and then check their answer with the worked solution provided.
How much time do I need for this online training course?
- On signing up for this course, registrants have 100 days access, which may be extended (if needed) at no extra cost until you pass the Exam
- Most students require several weeks of evening preparation in order to feel confident about passing the exam. It is an asset if you already have a technical background in eg engineering or architecture
